She was a girl INTERRUPTED…
She was young…whenever she did decide to do something she was told not to do it, in most cases. It wasn’t okay.
She was too much. She was this. She was that…No one made her feel pretty. Most people seemed to do what they could to crush any good thoughts or confidence she had about herself, make jokes about her and laugh at her.
She was still young, but older…when she was really interrupted…She was 12…It was brutal…At that age she didn’t know what she should do about what happened to her. All she knew was that it wasn’t supposed to happen, and she couldn’t tell anyone. Somehow it was her fault. All she did was go to sleep on the pallet left on the living room floor for her…that’s all she did. Falling asleep there changed the course of her life FOREVER.
You would think that taking everything that she was, was enough, but not for him.

He also had to be sure to make her feel like she wasn’t any good. He had to tell her that she wasn’t someone that anyone, especially him would want. That was his way of trying to convince her that he didn’t do anything to her. "Why would I ever touch you? I don’t want you. I never did, and I never will"
…She was 12!
She continued living her young life, but she never told anyone what happened to her at that time…not even her mother. She had no idea how this act of sexual violence would affect her entire life. Everything she was, and everything she would not allow herself to become, was tied to this single event. Every relationship was directly affected by this…
I am SHE and she is ME…
Where do I start? Where do I begin? There is so much inside of me that needs to be released…so much to tell…so much to say…That is the reason why it has taken me so long to say anything…because there is so much to share.
